We are pleased to announce the addition of a new condition to our TreatGx website! Ulcerative colitis is now available for access to all TreatGx users.   

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that can affect people of all ages. The disease can have a debilitating effect on quality of life and can affect people’s social, professional, and family lives. There are many medications available to treat the symptoms of UC and to induce and maintain remission, and selection of a medication depends on the severity, location and stage of the disease, in addition to patient-specific factors.  

The TreatGx Ulcerative Colitis algorithm provides medication treatment options for adults with active mild, moderate and severe disease as well as for maintenance of remission after medical therapy.  Medication treatment options and dosing are based on the most up to date guidelines from the American College of Gastroenterology [1], American Gastroenterological Association [2], British Society of Gastroenterology [3], and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence [4].  The algorithm  features: 

• Specific treatment options based on different phases and severity of disease 
• Personalized dosing based on liver and kidney function, pharmacogenetics, drug-drug interactions, and other patient-specific factors   
• Detailed dosing that includes guidance for the variety of formulations and medication strengths used in ulcerative colitis 
• Automatic calculation of weight-based dosing
