Part-Time Lab Technician

We operate a (CAP Accreditation Pending) laboratory where we undertake advanced evidence based pharmacogenetic testing for our customers as part of our award winning TreatGxPlus TM product. Our precision prescribing software with embedded PGx provides safe, effective, and personalized treatment options for patients and digitally enhanced prescribing accuracy for healthcare professionals. We require a part-time lab technician to help us meet our increasing sample volumes.

Responsibilities:

Based out of our modern lab environment at Discovery Parks on the BCIT campus, you will be reporting to the GenXys Lab Supervisor and will be exposed to the end-to-end process of pharmacogenetic testing. As a lab technologist your responsibilities in supporting pharmacogenetic lab testing will include, but not limited to:

  • DNA extraction
  • PCR (including RT-PCR and fluorescent PCR)
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Operation and maintenance of common laboratory equipment/instruments
  • Problem-solving at a basic, operational level using an analytical approach
  • Making TreatGxPlus kits
  • Be vocal on promotional activities and changes to the business model and pricing strategy.
  • Complying with established operational policies, procedures, and protocols

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or medical laboratory science or aligned degree.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Effective problem solving, organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative team environment as well as by oneself.
  • Attention to detail and scientific accuracy.
